About Gillian

I believe that anyone can be an artist. If you have the urge to create, anything is possible! Sharing artistic skills and knowledge brings me so much joy. I can teach novice/amateur to mid-level students, looking to excell in drawing and painting skills. We will work in graphite and charcoal, as well as acrylic paint, ink, and oil paints. I will also work with your preference of medium as a student.

Seeing a student's growth is incredibly gratifying. With focus and practice, it's amazing to see how quickly a new artist can improve and begin to feel confident in their abilities. I often feel that one of the most important tools an artist can have is simply to have belief in themselves. A sturdy foundation in skills makes you feel free to explore and expand as an artist.

I have been studying and practicing fine arts drawing and paintng for about 10 years. I studied art history and figurative painting at Montgomery College, and I studied studio and graphic arts at Susquehanna University. Currently I am working through a program with Milan Art Institute, with a focus in mixed media and oil painting. I am currently mentoring a student who is a year behind me in this program as well.

About the lesson

I will ask you a few questions about your goals, how long you want to take lessons, and which mediums you are looking to learn. I will provide the basic supplies needed for you to begin. The goal of these lessons is to give you skills and get you to a place where you are confident in yourself as an artist, so I will allow you to choose which subject matters appeal to you most.
