About Stephanie
I'm a liscensed art teacher. I've been teaching in public schools for 16 years. I was head teacher for an ESL company as well and have directed programs for children and adults with traumatic brain injuries. I teach in a very diverse population and love learning about new people. I've helped many students get into elite programs and insititutions through my classes.
I was trained professionally and specialize in oils, acrylics, and watercolors. I have extensive drawing background and my work ranges from abstract to surrealistic to realistic.
That being said, I'm a teacher at heart and work on numerous committees in Chicago Public Schools ensuring quality curriculum is being delivered to students in a equitable manner. Lastly, I've worked with leading art educators in developing curricula that is relevant, challenging, and meaningful. My passion is truly teaching all kinds of students and helping them developing a love of art and creating.
At this time, my availability is limited to weekends and evenings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
I truly love getting to know my students and working with them to find their own voice. I'm a cheerleader type of teacher and very encouraging.

I usually spend the first meeting getting to know my student and looking at any past examples of their work and setting out small, measurable, attainable goals to begin. I listen to what they would like to work on and then present a few ideas to help my student reach that goal. I then develop a curriculum with them and create the projects in each class, staying one day ahead to show students how to complete the work.

My kids always looked forward to her art classes. They enjoyed the different projects that they completed and thought she was so nice. If they don't enjoy something, it is difficult to get them to come, but they always looked forward to her classes.
Ms. K is such a wonderful teacher! Her lessons are practical, thorough, and great for students of all levels. I also love how she gives attention to each student’s needs!
My child had a wonderful time studying art with Ms K. She was patient and kind and my child loved learning more about drawing and improving their skills.
