About Cynzia

My love for teaching started while I was working on my architecture master program at GA Tech. I was fortunate to teach drawing and design to first year architect students. Since then, I have taught drawing and painting to children and and adults in private and group settings.

I teach my students from the very beginnings of drawing and painting. We first start with drawing classes, which is the basis of any good work, even for those who deconstruct their work, for example, Picasso. He was an amazing realist painter. Because he had these skills, he was able to deconstruct his imagines into cubism.

After drawing we move to color theory and then we transition from black and white into color works through the use of pastels. Oil painting comes next. The student will learn not just how to paint but also, all the essential tools and tips to become an accomplished oil painter.

Of course, these steps are modified depending on each student's skill level.

I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. I strongly believe that with the right instruction, anyone can learn to draw and paint. Interest, enthusiasm and practice, will make the beginner into a professional.

I started painting at a very young age, inspired by my mother's interest in art and the guidance of my uncle Rigo, who was a professional painter. After receiving lessons from my uncle, I took lessons every time I had the opportunity to do so, in private lessons and later on during my college years, I took art classes for every elective class possible. In 2008, I went back to college to acquire a masters in Fine Arts in Painting from Savannah College of Arts and Design. I graduated in 2011.

I have always had a fascination with the human figure, specially the face and expressions. I find myself looking at people and exploring all the elements that encompass the way they look and how their personalities reflect on their features. Portraiture became the answer to my fascination.

I do enjoy painting other subjects, like animals, still life and landscapes, though I treat them all as portraits.

For me art is the reason we humans should do everything else. Creating infuses quality into our lives!

About the lesson

Drawing lessons offered by Cynzia are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
