Charcoal drawing where the student works for dark to light with a limited use of lines with mostly shading. This then turns to color rendings (acrylic or oils) of simple subjects like basic still-life until painting technique is established.

Professional training at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, in Philadelphia PA, where I studied under several accomplished, established and museum recognized artists.

About the lesson

Begin with charcoal drawing to teach lights and dark approach to shape rendering to gradually pull the student first away from linear rendering (line) to open form (shape and space) rendering. Then we move onto color (acrylic or oil) with simple to more complex subjects with the student first watching me, then painting together until finally, the student works entirely on their own.

My experience has been limited to serious art students who wish to accelerate their training.

In order to leapfrog to a professional level, there must be total honesty, commitment, and drive on the part of the student.

One student was able to duplicate my style of painting within 10 days, then later went on to develop their own unique style using my approach to re-learning how they saw objects.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
My students should first reflect on how serious they consider their commitment to art and just how hard they are willing to work while sacrificing their personal time to reach a level of finish and painting quality they aspire to and currently lack. A serious artistic commitment requires more time after class than during.

Depending on the level of training and time involvement, the training fees can range for $50-100 daily. Course accomplishment is generally set for 7 to 10 days, again depending on students ability and drive.
