About Shane

I love helping others find their passion to reignite their wonder of the world and I take great joy in helping creatives be successful. Whether it be in their craft, marketing solutions or even pin pointing the next step for their career, I have over 15 years experience as a teaching artist for poetry and the arts *all ages and all stages of their journey, as well as marketing and creative coaching for clients who are ready to take their skills to the next level. I have a motto "Get struck" not stuck. Let's start your next adventure in the arts together to get you thriving!

The arts helped change my life and I have seen it transform others. I am a huge believer in how the arts can save lives and spark change in an community.

I have taught art and poetry at Behaliu Arts Academy, Henderson Alternative HS and Middle, Playing For Others Nonprofit Organization, The Harvey B Gantt Center, and have facilitated art and poetry workshops since 2012 through Guerilla Poets Nonrprofit Organization.

About the lesson

I meet students at their level, and help them uncover the steps of where they want to go so they know up front about how many session we would need to have in order for them to acheive their next goal. The process is just as important to me as the end result. I strive to have all my students leave the session feeling inspired and ignited for the future.

I have worked with all ages, from small children to the elderly from beginner levels to advanced.

I also have a great background in working with students (mainly highschool and middle) who have behavioral challenges (ADHD, Anger, PTSD, Depression) and adults who have experienced trauma.

For beginners ~ We are all artists, because we are made of art. Don't let fear cut you off from the joy and freedom art can bring into your life. ~ For advanced ~ DREAM BIG, the resources are out there!

I reccently had a student take a class from me that had just started painting and the lesson plan (art based in personal development) completely transformed her life. Not only did she fall in love with painting, when she started to impliment what she learned in the lesson, her blood pressure went back to normal, she was more focused and could preform better at tasks, and she even built a vision on how to give back to her community through her art!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. Do you already have an idea of what you would like to do with your art or poetry?

2. Is there a goal you are trying to get to with either? (Touring Poet, Live Hired Artist, etc.)

3. Just be open about any apprehension you may have or challenges you face. Let me know what they are and we can overcome it together.
