About Parker

I volunteered to help at summer camp one summer when I was 14. I started teaching toddlers and preschoolers to paint and I never looked back!

I have a BFA degree and 13 years of experience teaching in the arts

About the lesson

When I teach I typically use project based, process oreiented lessons. The process of creating ususally teaches a student more about each technique and lesson moreso than an instructor telling the student rules and guides. I try to be more of a coach and mentor, giving guidance when needed, and allow art to be a journey for each student.

All types! Every age group, all developmental levels, English speakers and non English speakers, able bodied and disabled bodies. All students are capable of creating!

Look at the instructors personal artwork and see if their portfolios align with what kind of art you would like to develop in the long term. An illustrator works very differently than an abstract painter for instance, and may have very different teaching strategies.

I recently taught at a preschool for the first time in a long time, and I just have so many fond memories of working with very young children in the arts. Toddlers and preschool aged students are so free and curious about the world, it is wonderful when paired with art lessons!
