About Andy

I am excited to be the tour guide of your creative journey. It gives me great satisfaction to see my students experience the success of finishing creative projects they thought beyond them before learning my techniques. I earned my first art scholarship from Bemis art School in the 2nd grade. In the 4th grade, I was instructed in Caligraphy as an award for good penmanship. I taught my first art classes in the 6th grade to my classmates and lower classes. While studying Graphic and Fine art I received Dean's list honors at Mesa State and Northern Colorado. At Mesa State, I won consecutive first-place awards in the annual literary program. While at Mesa State I was hired to paint several murals throughout the weight room for all of the Varsity team sports.

My creative teaching stands out from the rest because I really take time to see what makes individuals find pleasure in creation. My style is versatile enough to encompass many mediums. In my time working for Apple I was trained on discovering the different personality types. This skill allows for the student and teacher to align learning desire with quality outcomes. I work well with all age ranges and love tailoring my program to the individual student's level of mastery.

I got started teaching art while in elementary school to my classmates.

Graduate from the University of Northern Colorado with a Graphic and Fine Arts degree. I have worked and freelanced in the field for several years.

About the lesson

I like to start with a 20-30 minute discovery process where I probe to find the student's desires and what they hope to accomplish so we can align for success. We then begin by following a couple of practices to get the right brain working inflow. Once the student is working is when the real teaching begins since the right brain makes them receptive to the techniques for the medium.

I have worked with young children, teens, adults, and the elderly.

My one piece of advice when looking for a mentor, coach, and teacher in the arts is to make sure to have clear goals and get continuous feedback during the learning process.

I recent event I am fond of was a small painting lesson where I first gauged every student's aptitude with a first painting then tailored the next class to focus on enhancing the desired skill level individually. It was a very competitive group and as such, it was nice to watch the egos melt away into the creative zone. After the class, I explained that the winner is everyone since the rewards of art are physically, spiritually, and mentally therapeutic.

30.00 dollars per hour and the rate can vary slightly based on the desired medium and supplies needed. A pricing list and sign-off would be provided for the student to sign off on to avoid unexpected charges.
