About Joseph
Experienced Maths & Physics Tutor
I am an experienced and dedicated Maths and Physics tutor with over five years of tutoring experience, helping students develop their understanding, confidence and exam skills.
I hold a Master’s degree in Engineering from Brunel University London, a BSc (Hons) in Physics from The Open University UK, and the Fellenberg Industrial Electronics Technician qualification from Malta. My strong academic and technical background allows me to explain complex concepts clearly and in a way that is easy for students to understand.
My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, ability and learning style. I focus not only on getting the correct answer, but also on helping students understand why an answer is correct. I use clear explanations, worked examples, practice questions and exam-style problems to build both knowledge and confidence.
Whether a student needs help with a particular topic, is preparing for GCSE/SEC examinations, or simply wants to improve their overall performance, I provide a patient, supportive and structured learning environment.
My aim is to make Maths and Physics less intimidating and more enjoyable, while giving students the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

My approach to tutoring
I believe that successful tutoring is about more than simply learning formulas or memorising information. My aim is to help students understand the subject, develop their problem-solving skills and, most importantly, build confidence in their own ability.
I take a patient and structured approach, adapting my teaching to suit each student's individual needs and level of understanding. I break difficult topics down into simpler steps and use worked examples and practice questions to reinforce understanding. I encourage students to ask questions and explain their reasoning, helping them become more independent and confident learners.
Teaching methodology
I focus particularly on making Mathematics and Physics clear and understandable. I identify areas where a student is struggling and work systematically to strengthen their understanding. For exam preparation, I also place emphasis on applying knowledge to exam-style questions, developing problem-solving techniques and understanding how to approach different types of questions.
I believe that students learn best in a relaxed and supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
Lesson length
My typical lesson is one hour. Longer sessions can also be arranged when appropriate, particularly for revision and examination preparation.
Qualifications and experience

Who my lessons are for
My lessons are primarily aimed at GCSE students studying Mathematics and Physics. I work with students of different abilities, whether they are finding certain topics difficult, looking to improve their grades, preparing for exams, or simply wanting to strengthen their understanding of the subject.
My goal is always to adapt the lesson to the individual student and help them make steady progress towards their own goals.
