About Ellen
I strongly believe that every child (and adult!) can learn and excel - but that teaching methods within schools, often due to over-stretched staff, can be one-dimensional with limited adaptations to account for different learning styles. What works for one person will not work for everyone - but that doesn't mean the student will 'never understand it', it just means it hasn't yet been explained in the right way for that individual.
I am excited to support students with their learning goals and, in turn, to excite them about the subjects they are studying. I am passionate about fostering a love of learning in as many people as possible - I have studied alongside full-time work throughout my adult life, purely for the pleasure of learning new things, and I have the enthusiasm and experience to impart this passion to others.

Understanding the student is the first step to unlocking potential. By working with the student and learning how they grasp concepts best, I adapt lesson plans to accommodate this - for example, if learning about forces and levers, working with calculations and formulae for those who learn best on paper, or using practical examples with objects in the room for those who understand real-life concepts more easily.
Lessons usually last one hour, which can be split across multiple subjects. All ages are taught up to and including GCSE level, and I specialise in inclusive learning across all levels, with experience across a wide range of neurodiverse and disabled students.
I hold both a BSc and MSc in Physics and Medicinal Chemistry, respectively, and have tutored students through a range of examinations, from the 11 plus to GCSEs.
