About Ricky

Hello! I’m Ricky, a professional Japanese tutor.

I bring you **authentic, real-world Japanese** from my hands-on experience in film translation—carefully tailored to your level.

Whether you're preparing for the JLPT or looking to boost your conversation skills, you’re in the right place.
I’ve taught over 3,000 lessons, helping students achieve goals like passing exams, getting promoted, and moving abroad.
I can explain everything in English too, so beginners can feel comfortable and confident.

Every lesson is customized using original materials and my unique teaching method.
I adjust the content based on your goals, skills, and learning style.

What makes my lessons unique:

**Real-world film translation background**
Learn natural phrases, expressions, and vocabulary you won’t find in textbooks.

**Focus on pronunciation and intonation**
You’ll develop clear, natural-sounding Japanese that gets your message across.

**Full support for JLPT, grammar, and interview prep**
From N5 to N1, I explain clearly and take the time to answer all your questions.

**Lessons available in English**
I use English explanations and comparisons to deepen your understanding—ideal for international learners.

**Global perspective and teaching experience**
Having lived and taught in the UK, Poland, the Philippines, and France, I support learners from many cultural backgrounds.

Language is a tool—and the most important thing is making yourself understood.
Let’s take each step together, at your pace.
Send me a message, and I’ll help guide you to your goal.

About the lesson

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
※Please note that the teacher will not provide any materials for this lesson
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Basically, it is a free conversation.
In this lesson I don't prepare the material.
Instead, we can have a conversation about a topic that the student has asked about or wants to discuss.

For example
Interview practice, role-playing

Learn vocabulary by speaking with words you want to speak and use
For beginners, there is a hiragana chart and illustrations of simple kanji.

If you want to know your Japanese level
we can give you a skills test. If so, please contact us in advance

..............................................
CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING POLICY
If a student is late or absent , I will wait for only half of the lesson time to pass. After half of the lesson goes by, I will leave the communication tool and charge the full price of the class.

I highly recommend Rikito sensei for those who want to learn and bring their Japanese to the next level. If you are after boosting conversation skills or preparing for JLPT or actually understanding nuances of Japanese grammar, whatever it is, Rikito will get you covered! I always personally struggle with applying new words/ expressions and grammar to practice and then making sure that I use it frequently enough to make it sink in my head. That is why am so glad that Rikito creates an environment where he proactively encourages students through exercises, conversations and fun games to do so. Besides, he is an extremely understanding and patient tutor, he has a very fun personality and you get to know more about cultural differences too! I feel confident that with Rikito I can become more fluent in Japanese across all aspects, vocabulary/ kanjis, grammar, speaking and listening!

Perfect! Rikito is a very reliable Japanese tutor who can tailor lessons to your individual needs. If you're thinking of taking the JLPT exams he will make sure you are well prepared. He can also help you in improving your speaking, reading, grammar, etc using his own original materials. Rikito is also a very accommodating and patient teacher. Whenever I've struggled with a particular section, he's always been encouraging and kind, making things easier to understand. He is very skilled at keeping his students motivated, lessons are well-paced, and I've significantly improved my Japanese with him as my teacher. His lessons are fun, engaging, and well thought out as he clearly tailors them to me. Rikito also helped me to prepare for my recent trip to Japan by teaching me essential phrases, and providing other language tips which really helped me survive for the three weeks I was there! I'm more confident in my ability and look forward to studying and improving with Rikito. ありがとう先生！！
