About Astrid

Hi my name’s Astrid and I’m a qualified English language teacher. I’ve been teaching on italki for the last four years and the most rewarding part is seeing how well and quickly students improve their language skills. In addition to teaching English, I have a degree in human rights and psychology and I’m a qualified yoga teacher. I’m currently learning Indonesian as this is where I live. I love getting to know and learning from new people, so if you’re looking for a friendly and experienced English teacher who can help you achieve your language goals, let’s get started!

About the lesson

I’ve learned that most students are looking for a supportive environment where they can feel at ease experimenting with the language. I believe mistakes to be such an important part of learning languages. I record students' mistakes and corrections in a shared document, which is a really useful way to look back on your progress and what you’ve learned. My teaching style focuses on communication and practical use of the language as I believe that the best way to learn a language is to use it in real-life situations, so you can expect a lot of speaking and listening practice in my lessons. I tailor lessons to suit each student's individual needs and goals. I can help with things such as business English or exam and interview prep, to improve grammar and expanding vocabulary or just to simply practice your conversation skills. I’m here to help. I also have experience working with children. I have a large database of books, and like incorporating drawing and storytelling into the lessons.
