About Ella

Hi! I’m Ella, a first-year medical student at UCL offering maths and science tuition for students in Year 3 to Year 11. I completed my GCSEs in 2023 with 9s & 8s in maths and the sciences, and went on to study Chemistry, Biology, Economics, and AS Maths at A-Level. I know how challenging science can feel in lower secondary school—I used to find it tricky myself! But after developing a real passion for the subjects and experimenting with different study techniques, I saw my grades improve dramatically. I’d love to help other students find that same confidence. I have over 150 hours of experience tutoring students for the 11+ and Years 7–11, and I aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs. In my spare time, I enjoy ballet and baking, which help me bring patience and creativity to my teaching. If you’d like a tutor who understands the ups and downs of learning and can help you reach your goals, I’d be happy to help!

About the lesson

In our sessions, I aim to allow students to come to conclusions independently with guidance from me for methods that may help them achieve their solutions faster and accurately, allowing them to progress further. I will ask for a list of topics that your child would like to work through and plan lessons accordingly. If some skills are similar or interlinked, I will be putting those lessons consecutively since it will help your child put what they have learnt into more context. I believe that this will help them become a better student by allowing them to look at questions and content with a wider view, which will help when difficulty increases. The typical lesson length is up to the parent at the student, I suggest 30 minutes to an hour, with possibly longer sessions for older students since the difficulty level will increase.
N.B Unfortunately, Superprof won't allow me to adjust my rate! It is currently £25p/h :)
