About Pavan
Hi, I’m Pavan, a third-year Physics student at Durham University studying for an integrated master’s degree.
I tutor GCSE and A-level Maths and Physics, helping students understand difficult topics, build confidence and become more independent when answering questions. Having studied Maths, Further Maths and Physics at A-level myself, I understand how frustrating it can be when an explanation moves too quickly or a question looks unfamiliar.
My approach is patient and practical. I break ideas into manageable steps, explain why a method works and give students opportunities to try it themselves. Questions and mistakes are a useful part of learning, so students should feel comfortable telling me when something hasn’t clicked.
I have supported students with different starting points and levels of confidence. One student improved from Grade 4 to Grade 8 within an academic year through regular lessons and focused practice.
Alongside teaching, I manage my own tutoring practice, including lesson planning, homework and communication with students and parents. I take that responsibility seriously: lessons should have a clear purpose, and students should understand what they are working towards.

Whether you’re struggling with the foundations or aiming for higher grades, we’ll start by identifying what you understand, where you get stuck and what you want to achieve.
My lessons combine clear explanations with plenty of practice. A typical session includes:
• A short recap to check previous learning.
• A step-by-step explanation of the topic, supported by worked examples.
• Questions you attempt yourself, with guidance where needed.
• Exam-style practice focused on choosing a method, showing working and avoiding common mistakes.
• A final review and targeted homework to strengthen what we’ve covered.
I adapt the pace to the student. If the foundations need more attention, we work on those before moving ahead. If you understand the content but struggle in exams, we focus on applying it to unfamiliar questions and interpreting what the examiner is asking.
For AQA, Edexcel and OCR students, practice is matched to the relevant specification and mark schemes. Earlier topics are revisited regularly so that progress lasts beyond a single lesson.
Online lessons use a shared screen and digital handwriting, allowing you to follow calculations and explanations step by step.
