About Crystal
I believe that all students are capable of learning and excelling in their courses, but that sometimes they have difficulty because of the way the material was taught. Working one-on-one with a student gives me the great advantage of focusing on an individual and shaping the lessons based on his or her needs.
I strive to be someone my students can trust - their advocate who won't give up on them and is there for them when they need, not just during our weekly or biweekly meetings together.
After years of experience, I've come to recognize the importance of building a trusting, mutually respectful relationship with my students, and the impact it has on their motivation for success.

Crystal has been tutoring for over 7 years, and has experience tutoring students of all ages, mainly in a variety of math and science courses at the high-school (including AP) and college levels, as well as college students and graduates preparing for the MCAT (standardized test required for medical school admissions). From working with such a wide range of students, she has been able to garner specific tutoring methods and techniques for many different types of students. Having been a student at a rigorous institution, she also came to recognize that comprehension of material is only a piece of the puzzle, and that organization, time-management, and effective study habits are required for academic success.
She has also completed training from various tutoring companies, one of which qualified her to be a certified Academic Manager (AM). The job of an AM fuses subject tutoring with educational therapy, to develop individualized curriculums for students and address the source of their academic challenges. This includes promoting executive functioning skills and sometimes even working with the student's teachers and parents to best meet the student's needs and help them achieve success.

- college math and sciences (lower divs), including calculus, statistics, biology, biochemistry, physics, general and organic chemistry
