About Pulkit

Hello, I'm Pulkit, and I’m excited to guide you on your learning journey! I hold an MSc in Fintech and Business Analytics from the University of Westminster, and my passion lies at the intersection of technology, finance, and problem-solving.

With a strong foundation in both mathematics and computer science, I’ve seen firsthand how mastering these subjects opens doors to numerous opportunities, whether it’s in technology, business, or even creative fields. Having studied fintech, I’ve learned the power of analytical thinking and how mathematical models and algorithms can transform industries.

The reason I want to teach is simple: I love helping others discover that same excitement and confidence when they finally understand a complex topic. I know from my own experience that learning can be challenging, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. My goal as your tutor is to make those challenges easier, to help you see the beauty in problem-solving, and to equip you with the skills to succeed in your academic and professional life.

I believe that with the right guidance, patience, and practice, everyone can achieve their full potential in mathematics, computer science, and beyond. I’m here to support you every step of the way, whether you’re just starting out or looking to deepen your understanding of advanced topics. Let’s work together to achieve your goals!

My approach to personal tutoring in mathematics and computer science is centered around four key principles: understanding the student, fostering engagement, building problem-solving skills, and reinforcing concepts through practice.

1. Understanding the Student
- Assessment of Current Level: I begin by assessing the student's current level of understanding, identifying strengths and areas that need improvement. This can be done through diagnostic tests, casual conversation, or reviewing past work.
- Tailored Learning Plan: Based on the assessment, I develop a customized learning plan that aligns with the student's goals, whether it's mastering a specific topic, preparing for exams, or building foundational knowledge.
- Learning Style Consideration: I adapt my teaching style to the student’s preferred learning method, whether they are visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners, and adjust the pace accordingly.

2. Fostering Engagement
- Relating Concepts to Real-World Applications:** To make lessons more interesting, I connect abstract concepts to real-world applications. For example, in mathematics, I might show how calculus is used in physics or economics. In computer science, I might demonstrate how algorithms are implemented in daily technology.
- Interactive Learning: I encourage active participation by asking questions, prompting the student to explain their reasoning, and solving problems collaboratively. This promotes critical thinking and helps solidify understanding.
- Gamification and Creativity: Incorporating games, puzzles, and creative problem-solving exercises can make learning more enjoyable and reduce the intimidation factor, especially in math-heavy subjects.

3. Building Problem-Solving Skills
- Step-by-Step Guidance: For both mathematics and computer science, I guide students through problems step by step, helping them understand the underlying principles rather than just providing answers.
- Encouraging Logical Thinking: I emphasize the importance of logical reasoning, helping students break down complex problems into manageable parts, whether they are solving equations in mathematics or debugging code in computer science.
- Algorithmic Thinking: In computer science, I focus on teaching algorithmic thinking by helping students develop systematic approaches to solving problems. This includes understanding data structures, algorithms, and computational thinking.

4. Reinforcing Concepts Through Practice
- Practice Problems: Regular practice is essential. I provide a variety of problems, ranging from basic to advanced, to reinforce concepts and challenge the student. I also review mistakes with the student to ensure they understand where they went wrong and how to improve.
- Project-Based Learning: Especially in computer science, I incorporate project-based learning where students apply what they’ve learned to create something tangible, such as building a small application or solving a real-world problem through code.
- Review and Recap: Periodic reviews help consolidate learning. I revisit key concepts regularly to ensure retention and build upon them as we progress to more advanced topics.

Additional Considerations:
- Adaptability: I remain flexible and adapt my approach based on the student’s progress. If a particular method isn’t working, I’m quick to adjust the strategy to find one that resonates better with the student.
- Encouragement and Confidence Building: I strive to build the student's confidence by celebrating their successes and encouraging a growth mindset, where challenges are seen as opportunities for learning.
- Resource Recommendation: I suggest supplementary materials such as online resources, books, and tools that the student can use for independent study, tailored to their level and interests.

In summary, my tutoring approach is student-centered, focusing on engaging the student, developing their problem-solving skills, and providing continuous practice to build confidence and mastery in both mathematics and computer science subjects.
