About Ozlem

I am a graduate tutor with a strong academic background in Maths and Science. I achieved an A in A Level Mathematics and went on to complete a First Class degree in Pharmacology and Human Physiology, followed by MRes research training.

I enjoy tutoring because I like helping students realise that difficult subjects can become manageable when they are explained clearly and approached step by step. My main focus is GCSE Maths and Science, as well as KS2 and KS3 support.

I am calm, patient and structured in my approach, and I care about helping students build both understanding and confidence. I know that many pupils struggle not because they are incapable, but because they need the right explanation, pace and support!

About the lesson

My lessons are focused mainly on GCSE Maths and Science, with support also available for KS2 and KS3 Maths and Science. I adapt each session to the student’s needs, confidence level and learning style, because every pupil understands information differently.

I usually begin by identifying gaps in understanding and discussing what the student finds difficult. From there, I build the lesson around clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice and exam-style questions. My aim is not just to help students memorise answers, but to make sure they understand the method, the reasoning and how to apply it independently.

A typical lesson may include a short recap, focused teaching on a specific topic, practice questions, correction of mistakes, and exam-style application where appropriate. I focus strongly on confidence, because students often lose motivation when they feel behind or overwhelmed. I help them take small, manageable steps, track their progress and start seeing the subject more positively.

With parent/guardian agreement, I can provide lesson summaries, revision materials and practice tasks so students can continue learning between sessions. I can also support with past papers, mark schemes, exam technique, homework and revision planning.

I have experience supporting students with different learning needs, including dyslexia and ADHD, and I aim to keep lessons calm, structured and encouraging without making them feel pressured. I am also happy to give brief progress updates so parents/guardians know what has been covered and what the student should focus on next.
