About Abigael
I am a graphic novelist, who graduated with a masters degree in Visual Storytelling from SVA and a BFA in Fine Arts from Purchase College. I have been giving lessons in drawing and painting since I was in highschool myself. I have coached middle schoolers putting together a profile to get into prestigious art High Schools. I have been drawing comics since 5th grade, and I love to work with the very young all the way to grown ups trying to learn a new skill, or brush up on skills they already possess. I have spent time working in publishing comics as well, and am able to teach students how to write narratives to turn into comics.

I believe that when it comes to art, tutoring must be based around the needs and desires of the student. The first session would be spent discussing what they want to learn, and doing basic drawing exercises to figure out where they are, so I can go home and create a bespoke curriculum based on their needs. No matter the topic, the first thing to learn is always the basics, beginning with drawing from life, gesture, prepositions, value composition, and good drawing technique. Then we will get into whatever the next topic that need to be addressed are. I am a huge proponent of Scott Mccloud's seminal text, "Making Comics", and base most of my comics curriculum based on those lessons.
