About Shakib
I'm Shakib and am currently studying Chemical Engineering at university, where I specialise in Maths and Chemistry. I enjoy these subjects because they combine logical problem-solving with real-world application, and I’m especially interested in breaking complex ideas down into simple, understandable steps.
Having recently gone through GCSEs, A-Levels, revision periods, and the university application process, I understand the pressures students face and what actually leads to strong results. Through my own experience, I learnt that success comes from clear understanding, structured practice, and strong exam technique—not memorisation.
My tutoring approach reflects this. I teach in a clear, step-by-step way, ensuring students fully understand each concept before moving on. Lessons are tailored to the individual, focusing on both subject knowledge and exam performance. I place a strong emphasis on active learning through guided questions, exam-style practice, and building confidence with unfamiliar problems.
The revision methods that worked best for me—consistent practice, breaking topics into core ideas, and applying knowledge under timed conditions—are techniques I actively use in my sessions.
My goal is simple: to help students improve their grades in Maths and Chemistry while also building long-term confidence and independence in how they approach problem-solving.

I structure lessons around clear objectives tailored to each student’s goals, whether improving confidence, mastering content, or achieving specific exam grades. Before lessons, I assess current understanding using diagnostic questions and past exam material to identify gaps.
Each session follows a focused structure: a brief review of prior learning, clear explanation of new concepts using step-by-step methods, guided practice, and independent exam-style questions. I prioritise active learning, encouraging students to explain their thinking and apply methods rather than memorise answers.
To help students achieve their goals, I link content directly to mark schemes and exam technique, showing how to maximise marks efficiently. I adapt pacing and difficulty based on student responses and regularly revisit weak areas.
