About Thomas

Hello! I’m Thomas, a passionate and highly experienced mathematics educator with over 14 years of teaching experience, including more than eight years in international education.

I hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, as well as an Honors degree in Teacher Education. Throughout my career, I’ve taught mathematics across different grade levels and curricula, including advanced mathematics and AP Calculus.

For me, teaching mathematics is more than a profession; it’s about changing how students perceive their own abilities. I’ve seen students go from believing they’re simply “not good at maths” to confidently solving problems they once thought were impossible. Those transformations are what make teaching so rewarding.

I believe a great mathematics teacher doesn’t simply explain how to solve a problem but helps students understand why the mathematics works. My approach combines patience, conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and practical problem-solving.

Having worked with students from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds, I understand the importance of adapting my teaching to different learning styles, abilities, and goals.
