Why get a maths tutor?

Maths can be a very difficult subject but its importance isn’t in doubt. Your knowledge of the subject can affect what university courses you are eligible for, help you understand pricing and financing in your everyday life and your work and school career. Be you a young student or adult, getting a tutor for a subject that has a place in your life and that you have difficulty in, getting a tutor is never a bad idea.

Having one on one, tailored help can do wonders on your knowledge and understanding in maths, as well as your confidence in the subject.

Unlike in classroom environments, there is only the tutor and you. It’s a very relatable experience being in a room with lots of other people and being afraid to ask a question, or feeling like you’re the only one who is confused about something. This is not a problem when you have a tutor. Their full attention is just on you and it’s a more personal setup where asking questions or being confused about something is not a stressful process and where sharing your problems is encouraged. For those that are shy or need extra attention, having one on one guidance can be the key to doing well in maths.

Tutoring isn’t just for exams

When you hear the word “tutor”, the next thing that pops into your head is “exams”. Getting a tutor for your exams is often a very good idea but it's not the only time when you can benefit from tutoring. Maths is a very broad subject and it isn’t uncommon to come across a particular topic that is hard to understand and figure out by yourself. Not understanding a topic of the subject can lead to problems down the line and can even discourage you from trying to work hard on maths as it's very frustrating having to deal with something that you can’t figure out. This is where tutoring comes in.

Having someone who can give their full attention and clearly explain and guide you through very specific issues that you are having with maths can make your life easier when it comes to exam time and can increase your overall enjoyment of the subject in the long run.

Tutoring can also be a lot of help if you are planning on going back to education. It is very common to forget maths details and methods when we don’t use them often. Getting a tutor to jumpstart your memory again and get you used to solving various equations and talking you through concepts, is recommended and will make you feel ready to start your new journey and to start you off on the right foot.

Also, many of our tutors are either in third-level education or have been through it and since we have such a diverse number of tutors who have studied many different maths-related subjects, you would be able to get up to date and insightful information into the type of maths coursework associated with a particular degree and the difficulty of it, as well as the knowledge required to do well in it.

Exam preparation

Get help and advice with prior exam papers, discuss mock exams and your tutor’s own experiences with them, get corrections for you work, have explanations on how to do exercises. doing everything you can to improve yourself and your results makes a lot of sense, the benefits and opportunities go on. Getting that helping hand for the Leaving can greatly improve your chances for success in your future endeavours.

Don’t stress yourself out about your maths performance, get a helping hand from someone who has the time and knowledge to guide you on how and where to improve.
