About Andrew

I have 20 years experience of mathematics teaching in the independent sector specialising in Scholarship, IGCSE, GCSE, A-level and IB.
I am also an examiner for Edexcel in A level Mathematics as well as aid pupils with preparing for entrance exams into public schools. I have a Masters from Oxford University in Learning and Teaching which helps aid my understanding of the latest teaching practices.

About the lesson

My method is to make sure that pupils feel confident in asking questions about the material. I aim to challenge pupils to spark mathematical dialogue which helps the pupils think about the problems they are trying to solve. Asking why a pupil they have approached a question is important as well as giving them freedom to think creatively.

Deadly! Andrew is an excellent tutor for my daughter. From the very first lesson, he explained concepts clearly and delivered his ideas in an engaging and easy-to-understand way. He is truly passionate about teaching, patient, and dedicated to helping his students learn and improve. We are very happy with his teaching and would highly recommend him to other parents looking for a great tutor.

Andrew is a great teacher and has tremendously helped my son with his Maths. He followed a coherent and purposeful program for teaching my son.
As a result since he started taking lessons with Andrew, he has shown more interest in Maths and his understanding of the subject has improved along with his grades.

And he's become even more eager to attend open days and apply to university, while he had no desire for it before. My son and I highly recommend Andrew.

Andrew has been tutoring our daughters for several years now from KS3 through to GCSE and now A level Maths and Further Maths. Their confidence and understanding has improved significantly with both getting top grades at GCSE and going on to study at A Level. Andrew is an outstanding tutor who is patient and supportive. He provides carefully planned lessons tailored to their needs, which are enjoyable and engaging. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

My daughter has been having lessons with Andrew for the past two years, and there has been a huge improvement in both her maths ability and confidence. Not only has she moved up to a higher maths set at school, but she now approaches the subject with much more self-belief. Andrew is always willing to fit in an extra lesson around his busy schedule when my daughter has important exams coming up. I would highly recommend him as one of the best maths tutors in Oxford.

Andrew was tutor to my daughter for her GCSE Maths. Every week, he set tasks, which he then marked and provided feedback on. Of course, he helped her in her learning, but more importantly he gave her the structure and confidence she needed to know she could do well in the exams. Thank you!!
