I offer maths tutoring at KS3, GCSE, A-level, Degree and foundation year level. My subjects include Core Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Statistics, Mechanics and Engineering. My online tutoring sessions are interactive, engaging and informal. I encourage developing intuition while having fun alongside learning. I conduct sessions through video calls hosted on Google Meet (no set-up required, you just need a Gmail account). I use an online whiteboard to demonstrate written work and share learning materials. If you have a digital tablet and pen you can also write on this whiteboard during sessions, but this is absolutely not a requirement! Sessions are typically 1 hour, but longer sessions can be arranged.
Understanding is key to success in mathematics. For many reasons, students can have gaps in their understanding that will cause difficulties unless addressed. I prioritise finding and overcoming these gaps. Once concepts have clicked, it's time to build familiarity and confidence with lots of practice. I typically go through questions from real past exams, developing good exam techniques in the process. I also welcome students to bring their own class work to the sessions, so we can focus on specific questions that they have struggled with. Optionally, I can provide targeted practice questions to be completed between sessions, which can greatly improve the rate of progress. I believe that everyone is mathematically capable, but learning methods are not one-size-fits-all. Through a variety of approaches, some patience and your persistence I can help you achieve your desired outcome, whether it's passing, improving or scoring top marks.

Ryan has been an amazing tutor for my niece who struggles with confidence in maths. Ryan explained things in a way that encouraged her to engage, understand and grasp maths. She now tells me that she actually likes maths! We would highly recommend Ryan.
Since starting classes with Ryan in November 2023 my daughter, who is now in year 10, has gained greatly in confidence, application and understanding with her maths.
Within a few months of starting with Ryan, her progress led to admission to the higher maths group in school and she is now exceeding her school’s original expectations in this subject, which is fantastic.
She looks forward to her weekly sessions with Ryan. He has a friendly approachable manner, has really helped breaking maths problems down into understandable knowable processes and simply gives great quality lessons.
I am more than happy with Ryan’s tutoring and, as noted above, the proof of the quality of his ongoing support is easily evident in my daughters great and continuing progress.
I would thoroughly recommend Ryan to anyone that asked!
Ryan is a patient and engaging tutor. He is thorough whilst being very easy to get along with. Would recommend!
