About Frankie

I am a master's graduate of physics who is passionate about sharing the importance and application of mathematics in the real world. I teach because I believe maths is a matter of confidence and with the right support, any student can achieve. I also believe there is a topic for everyone that can bring joy and inspiration and I try to share my passion for the subject with my students to remind them maths isn’t always boring and difficult.

About the lesson

Hi! My name is Frankie and I have spent the past 2 years privately tutoring 1:1 and tutoring maths in small groups at a secondary school. My experience in the secondary school system means I have access to exam board-specific questions, learning tools and resources that will help familiarise students with the style and wording of specific exam boards. I believe in a patient approach that focuses on identifying and rectifying weaknesses in key skills that underpin the GCSE topics. There are a variety of reasons a student may struggle: COVID years, absences or simply inadequate teaching in previous years. My primary aim is to reassure students that their lack of understanding is not due to their ability and help them build their confidence by tackling the gaps in their knowledge and building to GCSE content on a strong foundation. I have extensive experience working with all abilities from those who want to push and extend to the top grades, those who want to feel more secure in a pass for further education or employment, and those for whom maths has always been a source of anxiety and may be working towards functional skills or alternative provision. I am familiar with the higher, foundation and functional skills specification and tailor my teaching to the speed and needs of my students. Additionally, many of my previous students struggle with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD and autism and I am confident in supporting students with additional learning needs on their journey to success. I believe in going above and beyond and will always try to recommend anything that I believe will benefit my students outside of my lessons.
