About Jessie
As a child I had tutors in several subjects including maths, chemistry, and citizenship. Each tutor inspired me in their subject whether I was struggling or looking to push myself. I wanted to be that person for someone else, and began helping my classmates with their schoolwork. Since then I have continued to support my peers and mentor younger students in my college.
Online tutoring is the natural next step for me, and I look forward to meeting and helping new students!

I offer sessions in Physics, Maths, and Further Maths up to GCSE/iGCSE level for ages 12-18.
I take all the above subjects at A-Level, and am currently predicted four A*s. Perhaps more importantly, I mentor a younger student in my college and lead revision lessons for my peers.
My sessions are adaptive - I welcome students of all abilities, from those aiming for a pass grade, pushing for a top grade, and fully confident in the subject and looking to be stretched beyond the curriculum.
My sessions are 45 to 60 minutes.
The First Lesson for exam help and support:
I will ask for both the student and their parent/carer to be present for an initial discussion during the first session. This is for me to fully understand what the student wants to gain from our sessions. I will ask about their general academic achievement, and ask them to try to describe why they find the subject difficult or easy.
I may ask them to tell me any topics they find particularly difficult.
I strive to engage my students and ask questions of them, as this encourages active recall (an excellent learning strategy) for material they have already seen and develops logic and critical thinking skills if the student has not seen the topic before. Although I understand some students may find this intimidating at first, in a supportive environment the opportunity to give your best guess with as much help as you need is an excellent confidence builder.
For students comfortable with their school work and looking for enrichment in the subject, I will cover concepts not taught in school and go more in depth. For GCSE Maths students this is likely to involve exploring the topics covered in GCSE Further Maths, which include calculus, deriving trigonometric functions, and modelling.
For GCSE Physics students I am able to tailor sessions to their interests. If they have a particular topic they enjoy at GCSE I can go more in depth within it, or introduce other fields such as thermodynamics and quantum physics.
