I am an engineering graduate with a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and computer science, and I have extensive experience breaking down complex STEM concepts into clear, intuitive explanations. My approach as a tutor is rooted in breaking down complex STEM concepts into clear, logical steps and grounding them in why they work, not just how to use them. Having struggled with these subjects myself early on, I focus on identifying where understanding breaks down and rebuilding concepts from first principles. I emphasize intuition, problem context, and historical motivation so students see STEM as a set of meaningful tools rather than abstract rules to memorize.
In practice, I use a combination of guided questioning, worked examples, and active problem-solving. I encourage students to explain their thinking out loud so misconceptions surface naturally, and I adapt explanations to their learning style—whether that means visual intuition, mathematical derivation, or real-world analogies.
A typical lesson begins with a brief check-in to identify specific pain points or upcoming assessments. From there, we review the underlying concepts, connect them to prior knowledge, and work through examples together. As confidence builds, I shift responsibility to the student, guiding them through problems independently and reinforcing strategies they can apply on their own. I end lessons by summarizing key takeaways and suggesting targeted practice.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my emphasis on understanding over rote performance.
