I believe in letting a student tackle a problem themselves as much as possible, whilst providing as little guidance as they need. This way they are given the opportunity to make their own mistakes and work through problems themselves, meanwhile also giving me a better picture of how they think. I encourage speaking one's thoughts while working through a problem, so that I may understand what path they are taking within a problem, also preparing them for an Oxbridge-style interview. Rarely would I walk a student through a full question, only when they are stuck, as asking leading questions is a much better way to guide and engage a student, and really have them learn. Lastly, I enjoy questioning students on assumptions they may take for granted, so they can really develop an understanding and curiosity about their subject, similar to mine. I aim to teach secondary school students, but am open to inquiries from bright younger students.
