About Rajat
Hello, I am Rajat Garg, a second-year student at Azim Premji University Bangalore pursuing Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in maths . As I have mentioned I have taught students in my local neighbourhood so I have about 2-3 years of experience in teaching. One of the most important qualities I think is crucial for teaching is patience, which I possess as per the feedback that my students have given me. Secondly, in my opinion, a teacher should be approachable i.e. to say that there should be just enough fear in the student that he does not misbehave but can ask the tutor his queries freely. These queries need not only be related to academics but the student can freely interact about other issues because sometimes there are things that the child is hesitant to discuss with their parents. Lastly, I would say that the role of a teacher is not only to make them academically strong but also to instil curiosity within them to ask questions and not remain confined to what is written in the textbook and also share your life lessons to make them more aware about life and how to deal with situations that life throws at you

I teach children till pre-university/10th standard. My approach as a teacher when I am teaching would be to first read the whole chapter explaining para-by-para making them underline what is important. Then I would make them do exercises/questions at the end of each chapter and then phrasing my own questions, taking questions from previous year papers asking them to orally tell the answer especially in social science subjects and taking a test biweekly to assess them as well as myself
