About Simge

Hello, I'm Simge!

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Victoria, with a strong background in mathematics education, interdisciplinary learning design, and educational research.

My journey in education includes serving as a University Teaching Assistant, working as a certified IB Diploma Programme Mathematics Teacher, and tutoring students across various levels. Over the years, I have helped middle school, high school, and undergraduate students build confidence in mathematics and achieve their academic goals—whether mastering daily coursework or scoring high on standardized exams like IB, AP Calculus, SAT, and university entrance tests.

What drives my teaching is a passion for making mathematics accessible, engaging, and meaningful. I believe that every student learns differently, which is why I tailor my lessons to your unique learning pace, using interactive tools and step-by-step problem-solving methods to ensure deep conceptual understanding.

I look forward to supporting you on your math journey and helping you reach your full potential!

About the lesson

Hello, I'm Simge!

My Teaching Approach:
I focus on inquiry-based learning and conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization. Using visual tools like GeoGebra and Desmos, I break down abstract mathematical concepts into clear, logical steps.

A Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-up: Quick review of prior concepts.
Guided Instruction: Interactive learning with visual tools. Targeted Practice: Hands-on problem-solving from foundational to exam-level questions.
Wrap-up: Key takeaways and personalized study tips.

What Sets Me Apart:
I bring a strong background as a Ph.D. candidate in Curriculum & Instruction, a former IB Diploma Programme Math Teacher, and a University Teaching Assistant. My academic background in curriculum design allows me to personalize lessons to fit your specific learning style.

Who the Lessons Are
ForMiddle & High School: Core math, curriculum support, and IB (SL/HL) / AP Calculus.
University Students: 1st & 2nd-year math courses (Calculus, foundational math).
Exam Prep: AP, SAT, IMAT, CENTS-S, and entrance exams.
