About Conall

I did not myself grow up enjoying maths and understand how frustrating that is. Maths and Physics are the sort of subjects where people's enjoyment of them is hugely dependent on what teachers they happen to stumble upon. If I can make these topics more approachable, then I feel it's well worth it. If you would like references from prior students, they can be sent on.

About the lesson

Usual story, each lesson is tailored to the needs of the student. My general routine for JC/LC is as follows:
1. Identify weak areas which need addressing by going step by step through examples.
2. Assigning small amounts of homework to be completed each week in the form of exam questions which we will discuss at the beginning of each session to build exam preparedness
3. Spending two session on a seperate topic at a time. The first session I will introduce the topic and the second session will focus on clearing up any misconceptions which may have arisen in the student's own learning.

I teach via zoom using a tablet and given the medium I try to make it as interactive as possible and I know zoom classes can get a bit dry. Again this is just a rough outline and typically i deviate from it quite a bit depending on individual student.

My lessons usually last for an hour unless explicitly asked about. I usually meet once per week as this gives the student enough time to internalise the concepts themselves.

My qualifications as a tutor: With regards to the Irish curriculum I have been a tutor to junior and leaving certificate students in both maths and physics. They have all achieved fairly decent grades with respect to their goals. I have also taught university students in those same topics mainly to help prepare them for exams.
In general I have three years experience teaching both physics and mathematics at the university of Munich where I was a teaching assistant for multiple university level courses. I taught two hour lessons, created and graded homework and end of year exams.
