About Aidan
I am a fourth-year PhD Physics student and have been tutoring physics and math for seven years. I started as an AP Physics tutor for high schoolers in my first year of undergrad. Over the years, I have worked with students ranging from sixth-grade to sixteenth-grade (seniors in college). Now, as a fourth-year PhD student, I have 4 years of experience teaching undergraduate physics sections in a real classroom.
This has only strengthened my grasp of teaching styles and students' learning styles. Allowing me to find simple, digestible explanations for advanced concepts across the spectrum of students' learning styles.
My approach to teaching is focused on how to approach problems and learning, both generally and domain-specific. I move beyond the typical tutor's role of simply providing solutions and enjoy helping students find the connection between "math" and "application."

I started my PhD young and completely understand how overwhelming school can be. Through this related feeling, I approach teaching from outside of the typical power-dynamics between students and teachers. I find that most students learn best with a few walls down, not feeling like they are being talked down to.
I generally leave the flow of lessons up to the student, but am ready to provide structure when/where needed. I first let students approach a problem while explaining their thought process. If something needs correcting, I will step in and explain the specific parts of their process that took them down the wrong path. To avoid just doing the problem for them, I use related examples to dive into the main and tangential concepts. I adjust this depth on a per-student basis. So that a student at any level can build a general sense of how to approach different "kinds" of problems. If still unclear, I will, of course, show the solution/approach to that exact problem.
I am comfortable teaching all levels of physics and math, from middle school to an advanced undergraduate level. I also offer experienced tutoring in all AP sciences (and math), including AP Chemistry, AP Bio, AP Environmental Science, and AP Physics (1, 2, and C), AP Calculus (1 and 2), and AP Stats.
