About Signe

My name is Signe. I am originally from the United States, but I have lived in many different places, including France, Austria, Germany, and now Ireland. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music, specifically songwriting and piano/vocal performance. I have recorded an EP as well as a few singles and released various music videos. During COVID, when performing became difficult, I took my teaching career full time and discovered that I love it. Besides music-related things, I also enjoy reading, dancing, and traveling, of course!

About the lesson

I have been teaching a combination of piano and voice for over five years. As an experienced singer-songwriter my approach blends a combination of theory and creativity that is designed to help you play the music you enjoy quicker and with confidence. Part of being a musician is building a successful practice routine however this is often neglected by teachers due to the assumption that it cannot be taught. Although it’s true that no teacher can force you to practice, we can help explore various practice techniques, strategies, and mental blocks that often get in the way of achieving goals. I emphasize practice and discussions surrounding learning styles and goals which will help you achieve the level of playing you would like in a way that feels good!

Typically our lessons begin with a level appropriate warm up that includes sight-reading and a technique exercise. This is followed by the practical portion of a theoretical concept in your lesson book, with the final half hour dedicated to repertoire. Lastly, the lesson concludes with goal setting for the week in your practice journal.

Signe is just awesome! Highly recommended for kids and adults alike. She will find the personal approach and have you singing and/or playing the piano in no time, and you'll be loving it every moment. 5 stars all around, speaking from myself and two kiddos. :-)

Signe is a valuable voice coach, especially for beginner and intermediate singers because of her simplicity, patience, and warmth with all of her students. I came into signing with her having no training whatsoever, and I actually believed I couldn't sing at all - but Signe taught me basics about music (my range, names of notes) and I felt well-equipped to explore and really enjoy the sound of my own voice. She is a fantastic teacher and a great positive influence for people wanting to strengthen their belief and ability in having a nice singing voice. Would highly recommend, no matter your age!

Highly recommend Signe! She's been our singing and piano teacher for 4 family members for almost the past 2 years.
She is extremely helpful, patient and an excellent teacher. The children love her, and look forward to her weekly lessons!
Their singing and playing has come on in leaps and bounds over the past 2 years. And Signe's guidance, along with the recitals have been amazing for the children's confidence and growth.

She is a fantastic music teacher, excellent with all age groups and music styles.

Signe has been teaching my two sons for several years now. They are now 9 and 7.
They are both doing incredible progress but even more importantly growing to love to perform and play.
Signe is incredible at helping them overcome their challenges in a very supportive way. She is incredibly talented and I have and will recommend her to anyone looking for music lessons!

Signe has been teaching me singing for almost a year and piano for 6 months, we’ll start doing both at the same time soon too. I was afraid I was going to be too old to learn piano in my 20s but I’m enjoying it deeply. She’s competent, attentive, encouraging and patient. I 100% recommend her!!
