About Dave

***Please note that due to a high demand we can only offer lessons online or at Dave's home studio in Clapham South (Poynders Gardens)*** Hi, besides an extensive teaching experience I am also an active musician and film composer. My work can be heard in films such as the BAFTA selected "Crumble", albums like "Warped Tension" published by Evolution Media (Film4, ESPN etc), as well as many corporate and promo videos. Please see links below. Musicformediauk dot com Playing Live - (concealed information) Bio: Dave’s musical journey began with playing guitar in local rock bands as a teenager. While starting out with fairly simple pop/rock songs, he slowly gravitated towards more progressive genres that allowed fusion of his many musical influences, ranging from chamber music to hard rock, electronic and trip-hop. Following his graduation from the Jerusalem academy, where he received a degree in jazz and contemporary music, Dave became head of the Guitar department in the municipal conservatoire of Ashkelon city. There, among daily teaching duties, he would start writing orchestral arrangements for the annual graduation concerts. At the age of 26 Dave formed an alternative band called Laid8, along with which he was lucky enough to participate in many musical festivals around the world and record three releases. Lead single “Flush” from their debut album “These Faded Lines” gathered a considerable radio airplay, which led to a deal with Kent based management agency Factory Music ltd. Around that time, Dave was also approached with a request to help in finalising the musical accompaniment in a couple of theatre plays. That experience was so rewarding and refreshing that he started to explore scoring further, subsequently composing for many other productions outside of theatre while combining traditional acoustic instruments with modern cutting-edge programming and synthesis. About the lesson

My approach is individual to each and every student. Whether you like Pop, Jazz, Rock, Blues or Classical. However, I do encourage everyone to follow a structured and proven learning plan. For example Rockschool or Trinity Pop&Rock. It doesn't mean you have to sit the actual exams of course :-)

Dave is a fantastic tutor, I have had about 10 lessons with him so far and my playing has improved hugely in that time. Not only does he teach how to play, and quickly notices where you go wrong and corrects it but he will also teach the theory of music. Which helps give a good overall understanding of what I am playing. Highly recommended.

Really happy with my lessons with Dave. I'd started learning the piano pre-pandemic and was keen to start again and picked Dave for online classes. It is going really well and I feel like I've progressed a lot more in a few lessons with Dave than I did with my previous teacher. I feel encouraged to ask questions to understand why things work in a certain way and it is great to be moving onto more interesting songs. His suggestions around counting and playing along with a beat/the music are really helpful for keeping in time. Dave provides a good mixture of encouragement about what is going well along with suggestions for improvements. Would definitely recommend.

Dave is an AMAZING teacher, for both keyboard and guitar. It was my dream to learn to play piano since I was a teenager, but I never managed to make any progress on this front until last year. I'm almost 40 now and I only meet Dave a few months ago. Thanks to his guidance I not only learnt some basic piano songs, but I also bought a proper weighted-keys electric piano and managed to pass a Rockschool Grade 1 Contemporary Piano exam with distinction. Now we're working on a Grade 2 Syllabus. I would give Dave 6 stars, he really deserves them. He's very patient, supportive and has vast musical knowledge. Thanks Dave.
