About Xim
I am a qualified Art and Design teacher and practising illustrator with 4 years of experience teaching Art, Photography, Graphic Design and Illustration across GCSE, A Level and post-16 education.
My background combines classroom teaching with professional creative practice. I have worked as a freelance illustrator, including commercial work for Paidós in Spain, and I continue to develop my own practice through drawing, life drawing, anatomy studies, ink, watercolour, Photoshop, Procreate and digital painting.
As a tutor, I teach through clear demonstrations, practical exercises and honest one-to-one feedback. I help students understand how to improve their work, not just what to change. My approach to drawing is based on strong fundamentals: simple forms, structure, proportion, perspective, light and shadow, colour, composition and visual storytelling. This gives students a clear route for improvement instead of relying only on talent or vague intuition.
I can support students with drawing, photography, digital art, sketchbook development, GCSE or A Level coursework, portfolio preparation and university applications. My lessons are calm, structured and focused on real progress, whether I am working with beginners, school students or more advanced learners preparing for higher education.

I teach Art, Photography, Graphic Design and Illustration through a practical, structured and personalised approach. My lessons are built around the student’s needs: improving drawing fundamentals, developing a GCSE or A Level sketchbook, strengthening a portfolio, learning digital tools, or preparing for university and creative courses.
My method is based on clear demonstration, one-to-one feedback and practical exercises. I usually start by looking at the student’s current work, identifying what is already strong and what needs attention. From there, we build a clear plan: observational drawing, composition, colour, photography, visual research, Photoshop, Procreate, portfolio presentation or written annotation, depending on the student’s goals.
I like to demonstrate live whenever possible. I draw, edit or develop ideas in front of the student so they can see the process, not only the finished result. This helps them understand how to correct mistakes, make stronger visual decisions and develop confidence in their own work.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although 90-minute sessions can be useful for portfolio reviews, GCSE/A Level coursework support or longer practical workshops.
I am a qualified Art and Design teacher with four years of experience teaching secondary and post-16 students, including GCSE, A Level Photography and Graphic Design. I am also a practising illustrator, with experience in traditional and digital processes such as drawing, ink, watercolour, Photoshop, Procreate and digital painting.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A Level students, young people preparing portfolios for college or university, adults who want to improve their drawing or digital art, and beginners who need a clear and serious introduction to the fundamentals of Art and Design.
