Kiyoe-sensei is an excellent teacher! Her English is wonderful and she is so patient and kind teaching Japanese. She really personalizes each lesson for the skill level of her students and knows how to challenge you. My husband and I have learned so much in our sessions with her and genuinely enjoy learning not only Japanese grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills, but also cultural aspects as well. I've had around 30 lessons with Kiyoe over the course of 3 months and she is such a sweet and accommodating tutor who makes every lesson worth it. She has taught me various elements of Japanese from basic grammar to subtle differences in similar expressions, and being a native she also knows about new cultural expressions you wouldn't know from dictionaries or studying by yourself. You're going to miss out if you're studying Japanese and you don't try a lesson with Kiyoe!

Kiyoe-sensei is a phenomenal Japanese tutor! She is very supportive, communicates clearly and effectively, and she is willing and able to accommodate for students no matter the starting skill level. I took Japanese throughout high school, but after a long time not studying, I was very out of practice and had little confidence in my conversation skills. Kiyoe-sensei is incredibly kind and understanding, she helps me correct and learn from mistakes without ever feeling embarrassed, and she is always happy to answer any questions I have! For anyone who is learning Japanese – or even mostly looking to improve vocabulary and/or conversation skills – Kiyoe-sensei is a fantastic teacher to work with!

Kiyoe is an incredible tutor. I started with her at an intermediate level and was worried I wouldn’t be able to find someone who I would be able to form a connection with. From our first lesson the conversation flowed naturally and I was able to click with her teaching style, which I feel she adapted to me.
