About Keelin
My name is Keelin, and I'm currently pursuing an MRes in biofluid mechanics at the Unviersity of Strathclyde. I have a bachelor's degree in physics from Mount Holyoke, where I also minored in mathematics and obtained an engineering concentration. I graduated summa cum laude, the highest possible honor at my university, which was given to approximately 2% of the graduating class. I am currently doing computational fluid dynamics research applied to human health, so if that sounds interesting I would be happy to tell you about it!
While in my undergrad, I worked as a teaching assistant for 2 years. I taught introductory physics and advanced electronics. Prior to that, I worked as an SAT tutor (the college entrance exam in the US), so I feel comfortable working with secondary school students as well.
As a tutor, I try to assist students in thinking through problems themselves before I give them the answer. When you're stuck, I'll first ask you to write down what the problem tells us, what we're trying to find, and what equations you think might be useful. This gives me a chance to offer some feedback, but ultimately you can solve the problem yourself. Obviously if you're still lost, I'll offer more direct advice until we figure it out. I find that's the best way that I learn and retain material, and my teaching style focuses on methods that I find most useful. I am very open to talking with you to figure out what teaching style works best for you and adjusting how I teach as well.
