About Tom
I've always loved trying to get to the root of a problem, and then helping others to do the same. Some of my earliest memories from school involve me trying to explain the maths we were doing to any friend who would listen, even if they weren't very interested. So, helping people who actually want to learn seems like a brilliant use of my time.
Learning new things is one of my biggest hobbies (alongside reading). I'm currently teaching myself Japanese, painting, and the guitar when I'm not studying for my university course. I hope I can bring some of that passion for learning into my tutoring.

I am offering 1-2 hour long maths/physics sessions tailored to students' individual needs, focusing on the questions and areas they are most struggling with in their studies (it would be a big help if they could bring these questions to me so I can best see where they are having a hard time). Preferably students will be studying at a nat 5 level or lower, because as a university physics student I am very comfortable with the areas of mathematics/physics covered in these exams.
Generally I find in these subjects it's best to go to the absolute basics of a concept and make sure you really understand them with simple examples before you build up to more complex questions. I hope to use easy to understand explanations to really drill in an understanding of the basic ideas that underpin and can be applied to most (if not all) of the questions found in examinations.
Having worked as a physics ambassador in sixth form, helping explain concepts to students in younger years in my free periods, as well as helping tutor friends and family throughout my schooling, I am confident that I have the skills to help young people reach their potential in their exams.
