I believe that the best way for children to truly understand something is by doing. That’s why I use a problem-based approach in my teaching. I don’t just give students the answers or show them one way to do things. Instead, I present them with a wide variety of problems, challenges that encourage them to think, question, and try out different strategies. Each problem is carefully chosen to guide them toward discovering key methods and concepts on their own. This approach builds their confidence, deepens their understanding, and helps them develop independence and creativity in how they approach new challenges. By working through many different types of problems, children naturally start to notice patterns, come up with their own strategies, and find methods that make sense to them. And once they’ve discovered a method on their own, they don’t just remember it—they own it. In short, I guide my students not by handing them the map, but by helping them draw it themselves.
