About Karin
As the Digital Learning Support Specialist at Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, I work to bridge the communications and tasks gap between Instructional Tech and Tech Services. Before taking on this role, I spent 16 years as a classroom teacher, teaching science and STEM-related content to students from 5th to 12th grade. My varied experiences have prepared me for everything I will accomplish moving forward. While I don't have specific life goals, I like to ride the waves of change to determine my next steps. For instance, I took a movie-making class to incorporate technology meaningfully when I taught a STEM elective course at Young Women's Leadership Academy. That skill proved to be extremely relevant during the pandemic as a way to communicate with my students. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Applied Digital Learning from Lamar University. Outside of work and classes, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and creating art. I live with my husband, Matt, and our two dogs, Eva and ZuZu.

As a tutor, my approach to sharing knowledge is centered around the student. I believe in individualized instruction that is tailored to each student's unique needs and learning style. This means that I take the time to get to know each student and their strengths and weaknesses, so that I can create a personalized plan that will help them achieve their goals.
I also believe in using a variety of teaching methods and strategies in order to keep students engaged and motivated. This includes blended learning, which combines online resources and technology with traditional classroom instruction. By using a mix of digital tools, hands-on activities, and interactive lessons, I can help students develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
In addition, I believe in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles. This means that I may use different approaches, materials, or instructional strategies depending on the student's individual needs. For example, I might use visual aids or hands-on activities for students who are visual or kinesthetic learners.
Overall, my goal as a tutor is to help students build their confidence and achieve their academic goals. By providing individualized, student-centered instruction that is tailored to their needs, I hope to instill a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their academic and professional careers.
