I am a freshman at the University of Texas at Arlington. My technique to basic math is reading the question and breaking the problem into a simple process. The simplicity of the problems allow us to assure ourselves that there is no need to overthink, just write it down. Read the question aloud, write down the key information, and plug it into the problem to get an answer.
I am no teacher, but as complex as a teacher may make the material seem, it is easy for me to put everything into my own words of better understanding in order to simplify the problem to myself and peers. I am more of a visual learner as well as how I explain things to others. I like to jot things down and write things out and repeatedly go over what was written until things are clarified.
To start off, I have not given lessons to anyone, which makes me a 'first-time' tutor. However, being a student myself makes it easier to relate to the problem of another student so that we can both build on it together from the same level of understanding. Additionally, I am able to express to a student the method I have used to be successful in this core of academics.
