About Ofelia
I'm a first-generation college student. Although, I'm a math teacher now math wasn't always my strength in school. In general, I did have my ups and downs with school therefore I understand students who have struggles of their own. I want to serve students who feel like they may not belong in academia because you do. I'm confident my story can inspire others to push past some barriers and reach for their dreams. I'm passionate about teaching math. I want to provide support and reassure that my students have the capacity to learn math. I enjoy helping others. With my educational background, cultural background, and experience I have a lot to offer someone looking to learn more about STEM related topics.

Making learning fun and engaging for students. First I get to know my students and they get to know me. Understanding where a student needs the most support and how to best provide that support. Everyone learns and is at different stages in their learning journey. I'm here to honor that.
Tailoring lessons and material to my student's needs. Providing the proper scaffolds, time, patience, and modeling persistence. By asking students open-ended questions they get opportunities to make sense of and understand on their own with my support behind them to help guide their thinking.
