About Jody

I am a dedicated and approachable tutor with a strong academic background, as well as experience supporting students across Maths and Science. With a proven track record of helping students improve their grades, deepen their understanding, and build genuine confidence in challenging subjects, I bring a calm, structured, and encouraging approach to every lesson. My teaching style focuses on breaking down difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps, adapting to each student’s pace, learning style, and goals. I offer a patient and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring topics they find challenging. Whether a student is aiming for top grades, needs help catching up, or wants to strengthen exam technique, I tailor each session to meet their individual needs. I pride myself on professionalism, reliability, and preparation. Every lesson is planned with intention, supported by exam-board-specific resources, past papers, and clear learning objectives. Students and parents regularly comment on my enthusiasm, clarity of explanation, and ability to make complex ideas accessible. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to build long-lasting confidence, curiosity, and independence in their studies. With every student, I aim to create a positive learning experience that supports their academic journey and helps them achieve their full potential.

My Approach to Tutoring: I take a structured, analytical and student-focused approach to tutoring. My lessons are built around identifying the exact point where a student’s understanding breaks down and rebuilding the topic clearly from first principles. I use a mixture of guided examples, exam-style questions and visual explanations to help students see why methods work, not just how to apply them. I encourage active problem-solving throughout each session, because students learn most effectively when they articulate their reasoning. For more advanced students, I introduce exam techniques, time-saving shortcuts and insight from Olympiad problem-solving to build confidence and stretch their thinking. Lesson Length & Structure: A typical lesson is 60 minutes, A standard lesson includes: A quick review of previous content A clear, step-by-step explanation of new material Targeted practice questions A brief recap with personalised homework (optional) Qualifications & Experience: I am a First-Class Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology student at the University of Cambridge, ranked 14th in the year, with AAA*A at A-Level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I have strong academic credentials including: British Mathematical Olympiad Qualifier Cambridge Chemistry Challenge Gold Dual Gold in the British Physics & Chemistry Olympiads Multiple school academic prizes in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science I have tutored students in Maths, Physics and Chemistry from GCSE through A-Level, helping them build strong foundations and improve exam performance through structured, exam-focused teaching. Who My Lessons Are For: A-Level Maths/GCSE, Further Maths, Physics or Chemistry students aiming for top grades or equally those struggling looking for help. As well as for university entrance with things like interviews and entrance exams.
