About Joshua
I am currently a mechanical engineering student at the University of Miami with a strong passion for STEM, leadership, and mentoring students. In high school, I was both a robotics captain and cross-country captain, experiences that helped me develop strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Through robotics, I spent years mentoring and teaching younger students engineering, design, and problem solving, helping them build confidence while making difficult concepts more approachable and engaging.
I enjoy tutoring because I like helping students not only improve academically, but also feel more confident in their abilities. Since I recently completed many of these same math and physics courses myself, I understand the challenges students face and what teachers are looking for in assignments, tests, and problem solving. I focus on adapting my teaching style to each student, using step-by-step explanations, visuals, practice problems, and real-world examples to make learning easier and less stressful.
In addition to tutoring, I will be working at Lavner Summer Camp teaching STEM this summer, and I have also volunteered with children through the organization Worthy of Love. These experiences have strengthened my patience, mentoring skills, and ability to connect with students of different ages and learning styles.

I am a mechanical engineering student at the University of Miami and a robotics captain with years of experience mentoring and teaching students in math, physics, engineering, and problem solving. I tutor students of all ages and math levels, along with high school physics. Because I recently completed many of these same courses myself, I understand what teachers and professors are looking for and how to explain difficult concepts in a way that actually makes sense to students.
My lessons focus on building real understanding instead of memorization. I use step by step explanations, practice problems, visual diagrams, and real world examples to help students gain confidence and improve academically. Through my experience in FIRST Robotics and engineering, I have developed strong problem solving and communication skills that help me connect with students and adapt lessons to their learning style. I offer both online and in person lessons in Los Angeles.
