About Lilly
A little about why I love math: I used to be a math hater. I struggled keeping all of the concepts organized in my head, got tripped up by little mistakes, and never wanted to spend any time outside of class studying. All I ever heard from my peers was complaining, which made it all the more painful to study. In college, however, I found myself surrounded by people who chose to take math classes and genuinely enjoyed them. Being in a space with supportive classmates and instructors made all the difference: I started looking at my homework problems with curiosity instead of resentment. I became more and more interested in the connectivity of the topics within the class, with topics from previous math classes, and with real-world applications. Now, I'm a junior in college getting a minor in Mathematics (majoring in Industrial Design) with a desire to see the way math is taught changed, increasing the emphasis on curiosity and an intrinsic motivation to learn more.
College-level math courses I've taken: Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra & Differential Equations, and a proof-writing/logic class (called Sequences, Series, and Foundations). I've passed all of these classes with B or higher.
Standardized test scores: 1480 SAT composite with a 780 math score. 4 on the AP Calculus BC exam in 2020. Additionally, I've taken and passed 11 AP exams covering various topics, so I'm very familiar with the test layouts and best study methods

I believe that repetition is the key to learning any subject, and once you have a good routine built, you can breeze through any math concept! My typical lesson plan looks like this:
- Concept overview (how does this concept relate to things you've already learned?)
- Concept specifics (step-by-step breakdown on concept, with examples that gradually increase in difficulty)
- Practice problems assigned and work time; I'll be available for questions
- Review practice problems and focus on weak spots for homework
