About Inti
I am a recent mathematics graduate from the University of Oxford, having completed a masters in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing, and I hold a distinction level masters in statistics from the University of Edinburgh and a first class undergraduate degree in physics (and philosophy). I worked in quantitative finance for 6 years before returning to study, being employed as a quantitative analyst at a major investment bank. Now that I've completed my masters, I am deciding what my next chapter will be. I enjoy teaching, and I believe that because I've never been comfortable presenting or applying a concept until I've understood it, I have learnt how to teach maths in the most effective way to students. I like to find ways that support and help students get their minds around complicated topics, and seeing the understanding flick on so that something which initially seemed unintelligible suddenly becomes easy and obvious. I believe strongly in ensuring my students understand concepts, rather than focusing on memorisation of methods and formulae. That is because when one understands, one is able to handle new questions and topics more easily, and progression to more advanced levels becomes natural rather than challenging. For that reason, my lessons focus on building intuition and comfort with topics, showing why a method works, then progressing onto questions that apply understanding. I've 5 years teaching experience, having taught in Summer schools in the UK and abroad, tutored privately and taught with UK based charities. I offer personalised lessons, and tailor the content, times and length and to my students' needs and objectives.
