  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in mathematics and physics started early at school, but it truly developed when I began helping classmates understand topics they were struggling with. I realiszed that explaining ideas in a clear and simple way was something I genuinely enjoyed. Private tutoring came naturally from that — once I saw how much confidence and improvement students gained from one-to-one support, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue seriously.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Mathematics and Physics across different levels, including KS3, GCSE, and A-Level. I especially enjoy algebra, problem-solving, mechanics, and topics where students usually say “this is hard” — because that’s where the biggest breakthroughs happen. I love showing students that maths is logical, structured, and actually enjoyable.
Topics I like a little less aren’t really about the content itself, but more when students feel anxious or blocked — although helping them overcome that mindset is also very rewarding.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I was inspired by teachers who focused on understanding, not memorisation. The ones who encouraged questions and never made students feel “slow” had a big impact on me. They showed me that a good teacher doesn’t just deliver information — they build confidence and curiosity.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patience, clarity, and adaptability are essential. Every student learns differently, so a good tutor must be flexible and willing to change approach until things click. Strong communication skills, empathy, and genuine care for the student’s progress are just as important as subject knowledge.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One of my most memorable experiences was helping a student who believed they were “bad at maths” move from failing grades to genuine confidence. The moment they solved a problem independently and said, “Oh… I get it now” reminded me why tutoring matters. Those moments never get old.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Like many students, I initially found some advanced topics challenging — especially when concepts were taught too abstractly. Over time, I learned how powerful good explanations and visualisation are. That experience helps me anticipate where students might struggle and address those gaps early.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My main passion is teaching itself — especially simplifying complex ideas and helping students build confidence. I also enjoy problem-solving and seeing how maths and physics apply to real-life situations. Outside academics, I’m interested in entrepreneurship and building educational projects that make learning more accessible.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P)?

I don’t just teach the syllabus — I teach students. I focus on understanding their weaknesses, adjusting to their level, and building long-term confidence, not just short-term exam results. I’m committed, organiszed, and genuinely invested in my students’ success, which is what I believe truly makes the difference.
