About Matthew
As someone who tutors maths, I can say that I am driven by a strong passion for the subject. I find it incredibly fulfilling to help students improve their maths skills and overcome any obstacles they may face. Through my tutoring experience, I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges students encounter when learning maths and have honed my ability to effectively communicate complex concepts. I strongly believe that my tutoring not only helps students improve their maths abilities but also builds their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. As a result, I feel that I am making a meaningful contribution to their academic growth and future success.

As a student of a maths subject myself, my approaches to tutoring are to:
Use visual aids: Mathematics can be abstract, and sometimes it is challenging to understand concepts without visual aids. By using diagrams, graphs, or charts I can help students visualize and understand concepts better.
Break down complex topics: Maths can be overwhelming, especially when dealing with complex topics. To help students, I break down the topic into smaller, more manageable chunks. This way, the student can understand each concept before moving to the next.
Practice problems: Practice is essential in mathematics. I give the student practice problems to work on, and provide feedback on their progress. This way, the student can identify their mistakes and learn from them.
Encourage questions: I encourage students to ask questions when they don't understand something. This helps me identify areas where the student needs more help and allows me to clarify any misconceptions they may have.
Use real-world examples: Maths can seem abstract and disconnected from the real world. Using real-world examples can help students see the practical applications of mathematics and make it more relevant to their lives.
Build confidence: Maths can be intimidating for some students, and they may lack confidence in their abilities. I will encourage and support them to build their confidence, and celebrate their successes.
Overall, as a maths tutor, my goal is to help my students understand and enjoy maths, and I can do this through my patience, encouragement, and rounded approach.
