About Đức

I am currently a trainee at a Freight Tech company in BC, Canada. A couple of years ago, I graduated from UofT as an international student, so I already went through a long journey that included taking an IELTS exam even before making it to Toronto.

I may understand your position at the moment. I still remember the stress of grinding through past IELTS practice tests, as well as coming to nightly classes just to improve my band score. Ironically, those were the dark days that prevented me from truly learning. I was not a good student as I had difficulty memorizing lessons. I preferred learning through trial and error, such that the only way I could improve was to expose myself to an English-speaking environment and be self-reflective. As a result, my overall English improved, and passing the IELTS became a trivial matter.

Later in my life, I encountered other English learners who had different learning preferences. Many of them felt stressed when told to either grind or expose themselves such as I did. That was when I realized each person has their unique intelligence, and that standardized norms are often too restrictive. I was inspired to learn more about cognitive preference, and with enough practice (with my friends and close ones) I managed to understand further how to help others maximize their potential.

About the lesson

I believe there's a different way to score a high band on IELTS tests. It's not just about grinding practice tests, but also to understand and enjoy the process of learning English.

I believe for every task that you do on the test, you have to master the fundamentals first. Until then, you may understand how the passages are written, how to articulate your opinions concisely, and how you can engage in any conversation confidently and fluently. After all, learning English is a lifelong journey, a long-term investment, not a quick grab for a meaningless set of score sheets.

I do not teach strategies or tips to improve scores quickly after a few months, although I can and will if you insist. I prefer to accompany you on your journey and help you learn through your own ability. I want to assist you in finding the study methods that will help you go even further after the IELTS test.
