I teach mainly through thorough understanding of key concepts. Understanding why certain techniques, formulas, etc. work helps deconstruct hard problems to simpler and more manageable questions. Once students can demonstrate understanding of key concepts, practicing common exam style questions varying in difficulty will help students get into the rhythm of deconstructing questions and work systematically from there. This method was taught to my class and I from a great tutor and I stand by it.
