About Chad

I am a graduate of the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Science in Astrophysics and a strong academic background in mathematics, physics, and scientific research. During my undergraduate studies, I participated in multiple research projects, contributed to a published scientific paper, and presented my research at academic conferences. These experiences strengthened my analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly.

I have always enjoyed helping others understand challenging mathematical and physical concepts. I believe that every student learns differently, and I strive to create a patient, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through difficulties.

My teaching philosophy emphasizes understanding the reasoning behind mathematical procedures rather than simply memorizing formulas. I enjoy breaking complicated problems into manageable steps, using visual explanations and real-world examples to help students develop a deeper understanding of the material.

Above all, I want my students to feel confident in their abilities and develop the independent problem-solving skills necessary for long-term academic success. Whether you are struggling with foundational mathematics or tackling advanced calculus and physics, I am committed to helping you strengthen your understanding and achieve your academic goals.

My approach to tutoring focuses on helping students develop a deeper understanding of mathematics and physics rather than simply memorizing formulas or procedures. With my background in astrophysics, I believe understanding the reasoning behind a problem is just as important as knowing how to solve it.

I typically begin by assessing a student's existing knowledge of a subject to identify their strengths and any gaps in their understanding. From there, I use a step-by-step teaching method. First, I demonstrate how to solve a problem while explaining the reasoning behind each step. Next, I work through a similar problem alongside the student, encouraging them to participate and ask questions. Finally, I have the student attempt a problem independently to reinforce their understanding and build confidence.

One technique I particularly value is having students explain their thought processes aloud. By asking them to walk me through the steps of solving a problem and explain why they chose a particular approach, I can better evaluate their understanding and identify concepts that may need additional clarification.

I also incorporate visual explanations, diagrams, and real-world examples whenever possible. My background in physics has taught me the importance of connecting mathematical expressions to their physical meaning. I enjoy breaking complicated problems down into their fundamental concepts so students can understand not only how a solution works, but why it works.

I offer tutoring in mathematics and physics for students ranging from middle school through the college level. Subjects include algebra, precalculus, calculus, differential equations, and introductory through undergraduate physics and astronomy, depending on the course.

Ultimately, my goal is to help students develop the problem solving skills, conceptual understanding, and independence needed to approach unfamiliar problems with confidence.
