About Elaine

I’m Elaine, a high school junior with experience in both advanced coursework and teaching. I’ve taught math to students in both classroom and individual settings. I tailor each lesson to the student’s specific goals, and I guide students with hints and questions so they discover the solutions themselves, building both confidence and problem-solving skills.

I tutor:
- Single Variable Calculus (AP Calculus AB/BC)
- Multivariable Calculus
- Linear Algebra
- Physics (AP Physics C, Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, Waves & Optics, Thermodynamics)
- Mathematics
- Competition Mathematics

About the lesson

I explain concepts step by step, starting from intuition before moving into formal definitions and problem solving. I like using examples from past exams, contests, classes, or real applications so students see why something works. I also check for understanding often, so we don’t just go through the motions.

Typical Lesson Plan
- Quick review of last lesson and goals for the session (5 minutes)
- New topics explained with examples and guided practice where we solve problems together (50 minutes)
- Wrap-up and planning what to focus on next time (5 minutes)

If you have an upcoming exam or class assignment, I can structure the entire session around the material you need most. Whether it’s reviewing your course topics, targeting tricky concepts, or practicing test-style problems, I’ll adapt the lesson so it’s directly useful for your goals.

Deadly! Elaine is an amazing tutor! She came really prepared and knew exactly how to explain the advanced math topics I wanted to learn.
